That’s why we’ve partnered with Seatrees, a nonprofit that restores blue carbon coastal ecosystems like mangrove forests, kelp beds, seagrass meadows, and coral reefs. Together, we’re building a future where reef-safe beauty can actually help regenerate the very places we love to surf, dive, and explore.
Who is Seatrees?
Seatrees is a project by Sustainable Surf, a California-based nonprofit dedicated to reversing climate change by regenerating coastal ecosystems around the world. Unlike traditional carbon offset programs that often feel vague or abstract, Seatrees’ work is rooted in tangible, place-based restoration projects led by local communities and scientists.
Their efforts focus on protecting and restoring ecosystems with high carbon-sequestration potential a.k.a what they call “blue-carbon” habitats. These include:

Coastal watersheds
Every one of these ecosystems is vital not just for marine biodiversity, but for human life. Mangroves alone store up to 5x more carbon than terrestrial forests and help buffer coastlines from storm surges, erosion, and rising seas.
Our Goal: 10,000 Trees by Year-End
We created KOOK to give ocean lovers high-performance products that are kind to reefs. But we also wanted to give back to the ecosystems that raised us. That’s why we’ve committed to planting one mangrove tree for every jar of KOOK sold.
Our current focus is on the Laguna San Ignacio project in Baja California Sur, where Seatrees is restoring a massive mangrove forest alongside local partners. This region isn’t just beautiful, it’s critical. The trees planted here:

KOOK was born in the ocean. Our founders met diving in the Galápagos and built this brand after years of hair damage, reef heartbreak, and exposure to the salt, sun, and surf.
